Firebird Body Painting by Ragen
Here is a ‘behind the scenes’ video as I complete my firebird design. The short video may be misleading as the actual process took a full 6 hours to complete… quite a commitment for the model.

North American Body Paint Championship - 2010
Posted on | February 17, 2010 | 1 Comment
This last weekend I had the supreme pleasure of competing at the 2010 North American Body Paint Championship, in Las Vegas.
This year the event, which normally takes place in Florida, came to my home town. I have only been bodypainting for a few months, but I felt compelled to participate… it was a challenge I could not pass up.
My piece, a firebird soaring through the galaxy, represents “EVOLUTION”. The headdress was sculpted from styrofoam.
I am honored that my design was awarded 5th place

“The Birth” Belly Painting

What a blessing ~ !
I painted this work entitled, “The Birth” January 26th, 2010 … Baby boy was actually in the position I painted on the belly. He was a great model, not too much kicking, I think he saves that for when mom is trying to go to sleep!

Oriental Painted Ladies

These red asian lotus and dragon chinese dresses were carefully painted onto the skin. At first glance, you might overlook such well dressed young women, however these girls were not actually wearing anything at all.
This young lady proudly displayed a painted Japanese Flag.
Here is a lovely painted Cherry Blossom and Butterfly Kimono.
Here is a more abstract interpretation of a koi fish pond. I love the way our Koi Goddess turned out, but I later learned that the Koi fish should always be depicted swimming upward for the spiritual symbolism of overcoming hardships in life.
This lovely young lady was a delicate canvas for the wandering branches of Cherry Blossoms.

I had the opportunity to paint her and a friend for an artistic photo shoot in beautiful red rock park, here in Las Vegas.
I’m still waiting to get the professional photos from the actual shoot, but here is a preview of the bodypainting… We used actual brass zippers glued onto the body to give a super realistic touch to the illusion.

Halloween Body Painting

My studio glowed with a thick haze of paint vapor… it was a very productive day. My colorful adventures included the making of She-Devil, XMen’s Mystique, an elegant Peacock, and a painted Laker’s Jersey. I love Halloween.
